Pipes Cove has been an area favored
for the cultivation of oysters of superior quality and taste since the days
when mainland Native American Indians would summer on it’s shores.
Since as far back as the 1880’s,
Pipes Cove has been one of the prime oyster producing areas, chosen by
local bay men, at a time when oyster cultivation in Long Island’s Peconic
bay first began.
In addition… during the height of Long
Island’s oyster industry, Pipes Cove has provided a shellfish without
equal.
